The Civil Department of Mahesana Municipal Corporation (MMC) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the city’s infrastructure is well-developed, functional, and sustainable. The department is responsible for overseeing a wide range of public works and construction activities, including road development, drainage systems, water supply networks, and other key urban services. Key Responsibilities

• Road Development & Maintenance: Construction and repair of roads, streets, flyovers, and other transportation infrastructure to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.
• Water Supply & Drainage Systems: Managing water distribution networks, ensuring proper sewage and stormwater drainage systems are in place to maintain cleanliness and hygiene across the city.
• Urban Planning & Building Approvals: Facilitating proper city development by overseeing building permits, zoning regulations, and urban planning.
• Public Infrastructure Projects: Planning, designing, and implementing projects that improve public amenities such as parks, playgrounds, community centers, and other public spaces.
• Waste Management Infrastructure: Supporting sustainable waste management solutions, including the construction and maintenance of waste collection centers and recycling stations.
• Street Lighting & Beautification: Installing and maintaining street lighting systems, beautifying public spaces, and ensuring the overall aesthetics of the city.

Organizational Structure

The Civil Department operates under the leadership of the Executive Engineer, supported by a team of Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers, Site Supervisors, and administrative staff. Each zone or ward in Mahesana has dedicated field officers to ensure timely monitoring and maintenance of civil works.

This structured approach enables the department to respond quickly to citizen needs, emergencies, and infrastructure demands in different areas of the city.

Use of Technology

To increase efficiency, the department increasingly incorporates GIS mapping, e-governance tools, and automated project tracking systems. These tools help ensure better planning, real-time updates, and transparency in work execution.
