Food Safety & Licensing
Governed by the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and Rules & Regulations of 2011, Mahesana Municipal Corporation ensures safe, clean, and adulteration-free food. Online licensing and registration are facilitated via foscos.fssai.gov.in.
Legal Framework
- Commissioner of Food Safety – Appointed under Section 30
- Designated Officer – Appointed under Section 36
- Food Safety Officer – Appointed under Section 37
Application Process for Food Vendors
- Visit foscos.fssai.gov.in
- Fill Form A or B and upload required documents
- Print and submit acknowledgement and forms to Mahesana Municipal Corporation within 15 days
- Pay the fee online to the Designated Officer's account
- After inspection by the Food Safety Officer, the license is issued
License & Fee Structure
- Turnover below ₹12 lakh – Registration Only
- Turnover above ₹12 lakh – License Required
- Up to 1 MT/Day: ₹3000
- Up to 2 MT/Day: ₹5000
- Above 2 MT/Day: ₹7500 (License issued by Central Office)

Complaints & Inspections
- Complaints can be submitted in writing or in person to the Corporation Food Branch
- Monthly samples are sent to Vadodara Food and Drugs Laboratory for analysis
- Safe – No issue found
- Uncertified – Unsafe, Substandard, or Misbranded
Legal Action
- For Unsafe Food – Complaint filed in court after Commissioner (FDCA Gandhinagar) approval
- For Substandard or Misbranded – Complaint filed with Adjudicating Officer (Additional Collector)
