Electrical Department
The Electrical Department operates through a partially decentralized system managed via the Main Office and 2 Zone Offices, with coordination and policy-making centralized in the Electrical Department. The Street Light section monitors the installation of new street light poles across all roads within Mahesana Municipal Corporation. Operations and maintenance are primarily carried out through a contracting system. The department is also responsible for installing timers (astronomical, digital, or analog) as required.
The functions of the Electrical Department can be summarised as below:
- Installation, operation & maintenance of all streetlights on roads within Mahesana Municipal Corporation.
- Installation, operation & maintenance of street/road lights on High Masts at major traffic junctions.
- Installation, operation & maintenance of decorative luminaries and poles wherever necessary.
- Installation, operation & maintenance of all streetlights in gardens within Mahesana Municipal Corporation.
- Monitoring energy usage & implementing energy efficiency measures in streetlight services.
- Minimizing non-functional streetlights and improving the uptime of streetlight operations through regular maintenance.
