    The Sanitation Department of Mahesana Municipal Corporation (MMC) is committed to keeping the city clean, hygienic, and healthy for all citizens. As one of the most essential public service departments, it manages daily waste collection, street cleaning, drain maintenance, and sanitation awareness across all wards of the city.

    Our mission is to maintain high standards of cleanliness in public areas, control diseases, and support the vision of a Swachh Mahesana.


    Key Responsibilities



    • Door-to-Door Waste Collection
      ○ Daily collection of household and commercial waste using designated vehicles
    • Street Sweeping & Public Space Cleaning
      ○ Regular cleaning of roads, footpaths, markets, and public places
    • Drainage Line & Chamber Cleaning
      ○ Routine and pre-monsoon cleaning of drainage systems to prevent waterlogging
    • Waste Segregation & Disposal
      ○ Promoting dry and wet waste separation at the source
      ○ Transportation of waste to the processing site and disposal unit
    • Awareness Campaigns & Swachhata Drives
      ○ Educating citizens on hygiene, waste management, and cleanliness habits
      ○ Organizing community cleaning campaigns and school-level programs
    • Public Toilet Maintenance
      ○ Ensuring cleanliness and upkeep of community and public toilets

    The department actively supports national missions like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and follows Solid Waste Management Rules, aiming to make Mahesana a zero-waste and garbage-free city.

    Citizen Services & Complaints

    • Report garbage issues, dead animals, or overflowing drains
    • Request cleaning of public spaces or vacant plots
    • Participate in ward-level Swachhata programs
